Alba Bernardini

Alba is graduated in motor science at Rome University. For a long time, taught in secondary school. Recently, took an European master’s degree in preventive and adapted physical activity.

 

 

 

Alexander Popov

Alexander Popov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1991 and holds an MBA from Brandeis University in Boston, USA. He has an extensive experience in international trade and marketing, especially with ICT-based tools for customer segmentation and campaign management. Mr Popov joined the Committee of the Regions in 2008 and has since worked in the Commission for Education, Youth, Culture and Research, with responsibilities in the fields of information and telecommunication technologies, media and audiovisual industry.

Alexandre Carvalho

Alexandre Valle de Carvalho was born in 1973 at Porto, Portugal. He concluded his PhD in Computer Engineering in 2009 with the thesis “Spatial and Temporal Information Management and Visualization”. He is currently an auxiliar professor at the Faculty of Engineering (University of Porto). He is also a senior researcher at INESC Porto. During the last decade he has been involved in several R&D regional, national and European projects regarding the delivery of innovative ICT solutions for local municipalities.

Alfonso V. Bermúdez

He began his political career as a councilor in the municipality of opposition Cervo during a legislature (1995 - 1999)

The following two terms (1999 - 2007) was a counselor in the government team and second lieutenant of the alcalde Cervo.

Today is Alcalde - President of the Municipality of Cervo and reconcile your position with the Executive Vice President of FEGAMP since November 26, 2011.

Alfredo E. Murua

Alfredo Etxeberria Murua is the Mayor (Alcalde) of Elgoibar, a Spannish Municipality of Gipuzkoa.

Armando Vieira

Armando Manuel Diniz Vieira has a degree in Trade, which he complemented with the Cheret Training and a Psychosocial Practice Training.

He has held positions in politics since 1997 and in 2002 he became the president of ANAFRE (Associação Nacional de Freguesias/ National Association of Parishes).

He has received an honorary title, as well as a silver medal from the municipality of Aveiro, for relevant services provided to the Parish, to the Municipality and to Local Authority.

Xosé Antonio Vilán Vilán

Industrial Engineer and PhD in Electronics, Automation and Power Systems by a University of Vigo. Teacher in training since 1991 and since 1998 Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Heat Engines and fluids. Director of the Department from 2000 to 2006.

 

He is Director of CIMA Group (Center Ingniería Mechanical and Automotive) since 2001 and also Director General of the only Official Vehicle Laboratory Galicia granted by the Ministry of Industry since 2007.

Carlos Brito
Carlos Brito Melo is Pro-Chancellor of the University of Porto for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Director of UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto. It is also Chairman of the Board of Ethics of the Association of Tourism of Porto and Knight of the Brotherhood of Port Wine. Associate Professor with Aggregation of marketing at the School of Economics of Porto and Porto Business School where he has played several positions of management and leadership programs.
Carlos Neves
Vice-President at CCDR-N - North of Portugal Regional Coordination and Development Commission; Coordinator of Mechanical Engineers in the Group OERN - Order Engineers - North of Portugal.
Since 1995 - Trainer certified by IEFP - EDF CAP No. 40071/2003 (over 600h), in the areas of organization and management of companies; quality systems, quality tools, metrology, environment, industrial management - production, maintenance, logistics, project management, information systems, communication skills and public speaking.
Cesar Veiga

Cesar Veiga is Senior Innovation Technician at the Supercomputing Center of Galicia. CESGA is the center for high-performance computing, communications and advanced services used by the Scientific Community of Galicia, the University System of Galicia and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

 

 

Cristina Barbosa

Degree in Gerontology, School of Health, University of Aveiro and Master in Economics and Public Policy at ISCTE - IUL, currently plays his professional activity in the Division of Social Work of the City of Santa Maria da Feira, in the implementation of the Plan strategy for Senior County.

Collaborates still in UNIFAI - ICBAS / UP in several research projects, and their areas of interest related to social policies for aging, the study of intervention strategies and promoting active aging and innovation in services and practices.

Cristina Ribeiro

Cristina has a degree in Social Work with posterior studies in Sociology.

Project Officer at Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira- Social Network Cabinet. Has been engaged in the last years in several projects within the field of digital inclusion of disadvantaged groups, such as Project ADD Me! Activating Drivers for Digital Empowerment in Europe, and most recently by implementing a collaborative plattaform that supports all the programs addressed to seniors, in a partnership with INESCPorto and Fundação Gulbenkian.

Domingos Silva

Domingos Silva holds a Degree on Geography and Planning at Universidade do Minho and a Master in Sciences in Geographical Information systems at ISEGI – Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Now he works at CIMAVE. Participation in several projects in themes like regional development, land management, geographic information and transport and mobility.

ICT Advisor at The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS). She was ICT manager at Lillesand municipality, Project consultant at Lillesand municipality and Teacher at Arendal / Grimstad / Birkenes.

Fernando A. Agelet

Fernando Aguado-Agelet received his MSc and PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Vigo, Spain, in1992 and1996. His major eld of study is system engineering in nanosatellites. He is a Professor in the Department of Signal Theory and Communications at the University of Vigo, Spain.

He is currently the Principal Investigator of the following Nanosatellite Projects:

HUMSAT Nanosatellite Constellation, an international initiative for a United Nations Satellite Constellation

European Operation Node of GENSO

Xatcobeo Project in cooperation with INTA (Spanish Aerospace Institute):

François Aumonier

European project manager at AeroSpace Valley (February 2011 – Present)

Freelance Consultante (Bioplastic business development)- Sourcing bio-based material for newcomers to sustainable plastics as well as developing international markets for innovative companies producing bio-based resins and end-products.

As Operations Manager for a European Economic Interest Grouping (water, coastal environment and oceanography), has developed a strong expertise in network companies for operating projects with international ambition. For several years also set up technology transfer projects related to space industry development worldwide.

Feliciano Barreiras Duarte

Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister Assistant and Parliamentary Affairs

Feliciano Barreiras Duarte was born in 1966. He graduated in Law – Legal and Political Science – and he is currently concluding his PhD, with a thesis entitled «Políticas Públicas e Direito da Imigração» (“Public Policy and Immigration Rights”), in partnership with the University of Berkeley, California, USA, where he is a visiting scholar. He also taught Political Science and Law as part of the degree and master’s degree courses at the Faculty of Political Science, Lusophone Studies and International Relations of the Lusófona University, Portugal.

He was the Assistant Secretary of State to the Minister of the State and Presidency as part of the 15th Constitutional Government (2002-2004), and Assistant Secretary of State to the Prime Minister’s Minister of State of the 16th Constitutional Government (2004-2005). Finally, he was a Member of Parliament (1999-2002 and 2005-2009), elected as part of the current mandate by the Leiria constituency.

He is the President of the Municipal Assembly of Óbidos.

As part of the 19th Government, he is responsible for immigration, administrative modernisation and the media.

Isabel Ferreira
M Isabel R F Ferreira, born in Coimbra (1956), is full professor at Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Technical University of Lisbon. She develops research and teaching at the Department of Biosystems Engineering, in the field of environmental physics, water use, water stress and irrigation management, mostly in woody crops. She was responsible for national and international research projects and was for 6 years chairperson of the Commission for Water Relations and Irrigation of the International Society of Horticultural Sciences.
Iva Walterová

Iva Walterová M.A., Project manager, has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the USA and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Turkey. Before she joined EPMA in August 2010, she was working for the Czech national administration. Her positions included national expert of Ministry of Trade for the Czech Presidency in the Council of the EU.

In EPMA she manages several EU funded projects under programmes including FP7 or INTERREG. Her professional interests include eGovernmenteInclusion and eAccessibility, social inclusion policy modelling and regional development.


Jan Privarčak

Javier Garcia Tobío

Natural Ourense, Spain (1951)

He graduated in Computer and Systems Engineering from the University of Deusto.

He began his career in 1975, developing technical and management activities in companies of different industries: financial services, ICT, ICT manufacturing, etc.

Jvier enters in 1980 for Fujitsu where he held the following positions: Director of Presales, Systems Manager, Director of Services, Director of Major Projects, Chief Marketing Officer. Member of the Executive Committee of the Company.

From 1998 directs the Supercomputing Center of Galicia participating in over 100 projects of I + D + i where is required in the application of new information technologies, computing and communications.

Jean Barroca

Project Manager at AlfaMicro.
Jean is an Open Innovation enthusiast, mainly working in Open Data and Smart Cities EU-funded projects. He can spend hours talking about Living Lab and Smart Cities success cases and best practices all over the world, and loves learning about new disruptive experiences.

 

 

 

Jesus Gamallo

He took a degree in Law at Santiago de Compostela University in 1985. From 3rd July to 3rd August 1990, he collaborated as a researcher at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) under the direction of professor Renaud Dehousse. He also collaborated at the National Institute of Public Administration, dependent on the Ministry of Public Administrations. He has been working as a civil servant of the Xunta de Galicia since 1993.

He was general secretary of relations with the European Union and foreign action (1999), secretary of 'Arco Atlántico' Commission (1999), general coordinator of the Work Community Galicia - North Portugal (1999), member of 'Comité de las Regiones' (2000), substitute of the president of the 'Xunta de Galicia', director of 'Galicia - Europe' Foundation (2000) and vice-president of the National Commission for the European Union of the 'Popular Party' (2001).

João Serra

João Serra is the President of Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture. He represents the Foundation at national and international level.

 

 

 

Juan Lirón

Juan José Lirón Lago has a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

After graduating, he worked at a private company as an Adviser and Consultant. Later he joined the Senior Group of workers at the Xunta de Galicia, and has been following the cooperation between Galicia and North of Portugal since 1986.

He was also a lecturer of Economic Policy at the Faculty of Law of the University of Santiago de Compostela between 1989 and 1998.
Currently, he is the Director of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Galicia – North of Portugal (GNP-AECT).

Lino Oliveira

Currently he is Project Manager at INESC TEC working in several areas mainly location based information Systems engineering and software engineering.

Lorenzo Sabatini

Head of R&D Project Area in ASEV (Agenzia per lo Sviluppo Empolese Valdelsa).

First class degree in Electronic Engineering. Just employed by ASEV in 2012, he worked as head of the project area since 1998 in Etruria Innovazione, a regional agency for innovation and technology transfer. National and EU project manager senior, involved in several regional (ROP) national and European Framework Programmes (FP6, FP7, INTERREG IVC, ICT-PSP, ERA-NETs) and networks (ERRIN, EEN, ERIK), where he is/has been coordinator or responsible at Steering/Technical Committee level.

Currently is responsible of the Regional (Tuscany) Innovation Pole for Nanotechnologies and is working on developing the new and first Digital Local Agenda of the Circondario Empolese Valdelsa, which includes 11th medium-smal municipalities.

Luis Alvarez Sestelo

Luis Alvarez Sestelo was born in Gondomar in 1974. Studied Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Vigo, Project Management at IESE and the Advanced Management Program at Instituto de Empresa. In 1999 he joined the Information Systems team of telecom operator Comunitel. He has held various management positions in Comunitel for ten years, until the company was acquired by Vodafone Group. At the same time, co-founded several consulting firms involved and participated in various seminars and activities on strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship. In May 2008, joins as Manager Gradiant with organizational and financial responsibilities.

His main interests are innovation management, finance, business development and technology transfer having made a stay in the company ISIS Innovation at the University of Oxford on this subject.

Manuel de Sousa Aroso
Manuel de Sousa Aroso, is civil engineer (FEUP), M. Sc. (FEUP), post graduate in Management (HEEC), MDA (IEPs/CCNBarcelona), MBA (IEP/ESADE) and is PhD research at FEUP. Is invited Lecturer at MIET (Master on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of University of Porto) and at Porto Business School. Is Senior member of the “Portuguese engineering associations”. Has more than 25 years of experience in tecnologcal business, was General Manager of two technological centre in Portugal and Manager in several industrial and commercial companies. Is consultant in several international projects.
Mário Jorge Leitão

Coordinator of INESC Porto’s participation in the project "Portal Douro”, aiming to develop a web site for the Douro Region, Portugal.

Regular collaboration with regional agencies for the definition of public policies in the area of information society.

Coordinator of INESC Porto’s participation in the project "Plataforma Regional de Interoperabilidade" (Regional Interoperability Platform), developed as part of a contract with CCDRN, the regional government body.

Coordinator of the development and implementation of the collaborative platforms for the Elaboration and Public Discussion of Regional Plans for Territory Planning in the North (PROT-N), Centre (PROT-C) and West and Tagus Valley (PROT-OVT) regions.

Martín Álvarez-Espinar

Martín is head of the W3C Office in Spain. He has a Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Oviedo, and has experience developing Web applications based on standards. He combines his work at the W3C Office with consultancy work on Electronic Administration and, more specifically, on the Re-use of Public Sector Information using Semantic Web mechanisms. In 2010 he was named by El Mundo newspaper as one of the 25 most influential people in Spain in terms of the Internet.

Natália Duarte

Natália Duarte has a Degree in Gerontology in High School of Health, University of Aveiro, and has a Master Degree in Physical Activity in Third Age in Faculty of Sport, University of Porto. Her Master thesis was related with the study of the influence of physical activity and nutritional intake on bone mineral density in older adults. She has collaborated in UNIFAI since 2008, and has participated in the developing of some scientific publications, training plans and member of the Organization Commission of Portuguese Congress of Evaluation and Intervention in Social Gerontology. Her research focus is safety and prevention of elderly accidents. Currently, she has a research fellowship in UNIFAI in Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, University of Porto.

Paula Ferreira

Paula Ferreira is a Chemical Engineering Graduate, Faculty of Engineering of Porto, Portugal (1995), MSc in Business Management, Faculty of Economics of Porto, Porto, Portugal (2002) and PhD in Economic Engineering, University of Minho, Portugal (2008). She worked as Technical Consultant for efficient energy use in industry (1996-1999), as a Lecturer at the Department of Production and Systems, University of Minho (1999-2008) and since 2008 she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Production and Systems, University of Minho, Portugal. She is the Principal Investigator of the Research Project Sustainable Electricity Power Planning and she is also Investigator in other research projects related to renewables energy impacts and energy efficiency. Paulo Calçada

For the past 9 years, Paulo Calçada has been working in network management and IT platforms.

Recently, as part of his work he has been focusing on Cloud Computing and technology related to this area. As an extension to his work, he was also responsible for organising one of the first European conferences on Cloud Computing – the 2009.cloudviews.org.

Currently, Paulo Calçada is a lecturer at the Fundação Politécnico do Porto, the President at Eurocloud Portugal, and the person in charge of the CloudViews Conference and the "EuroCloud Portugal Call for Business" Competition.

Ricardo Costa

Ricardo Costa received his Licenciatura (2002) em Engenharia de Sistemas e Informática from Universidade do Minho, his MSc (2006) degree in Redes e Serviços de Comunicação from Universidade do Porto and his PhD (2009) degree in Informática.

He is currently Assistant Professor and President of the Pedagogic Council at Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão (ESTGF) do Instituto Politécnico do Porto (IPP) where he gives courses in computer networks, computer security, cloud computing, decision techniques among others.

Rui Barros

Rui Barros has a Master in Informatics Engineering from the University of Porto, currently he is Area Manager at INESCTEC and coordinator of ELANET – European Local Authorities Network.

He is manager of projects for the public and private sectors in several areas, mainly in the information society context and software engineering.

Since 2010, he is the chairman of EISCO conference and coordinates the ELANET activities in EU funded projects, tenders and studies.

Unai Calvar Aranburu

Unai Calvar Aranburu is an Engineer, working at Tecnalia in Bilbao, Spain.

Engineer at Information Society Business Unit at TECNALIA. The main purpose of this business unit is to promote the use of information technology to address major challenges facing society and business.

Areas of activity promoted by the Unit are:

Technological Society: Bringing ICT to the Company, developing the skills of individuals and analysing the major changes in social habits.
